Steve Burns is President of Priority Foodservice Solutions Inc. (PFS), foodservice industry consultants and Surety Food Safety Group Inc. (Surety), food safety consultants. Both companies have a proven track record in the delivery of desired results.
Steve's career in foodservice and hospitality began in 1968 with his entry into the hotel industry.
In 1974 while working at a Toronto area hotel as a Senior Accountant, he completed his first consulting project opening an affiliated hotel in Peterborough, Ontario. The project included the successful organization and training of the Accounting Department and Front Office personnel. During these years, Steve was also an active partner in a 60-seat restaurant and a 25-room resort hotel with full food and beverage facilities.
In 1979 Steve moved to supply-side management and progressed through a variety of sales, marketing and management positions resulting in a senior management position and equity ownership in a specialty chemical manufacturing and marketing enterprise. During these years, Steve developed and managed numerous business projects for clients in the wholesale foodservice distribution community, regional and national multi-unit foodservice operations and with independent operators.
In 1997 Steve created Priority Foodservice Solutions Inc. providing management consulting services to the foodservice and hospitality industry.
In 2001 in direct response to marketplace demand, Surety Food Safety Group Inc. was created to provide a strategic focus on the needs of operators in the food manufacturing, distribution, sales and service sectors. Since its inception, Surety has been active across Canada providing superior services in the areas of needs assessment, training and certification in food safety, HACCP program development and implementation, and food safety audits.
